5 Ways Your Business Can Make a Positive Social Impact

“Businesses that are successful in creating a positive social impact are those that are able to align their social and environmental values with their core business strategy”

Here at COVE Collective, we strive to use our platform to make a positive social impact and create meaningful change in our community. Here are 5 ways your business can do the same:

1.  Volunteer

Find local organisations or events where your team can volunteer their time and skills to help those in need. This not only helps the community, but it also shows your customers that your business cares about more than just profits.

Jenna our co-founder has been volunteering in Made in Mourne for the last few weeks, while their staff take a break for the Summer holidays. Made in Mourne is a social enterprise helping to inspire and enable local entrepreneurs to take the leap into starting their own business. As a business born from Made in Mourne, we are delighted to be giving back and connecting with our local community.

2.  Donate

Choose a cause that aligns with your business values and make a donation or organise a fundraiser to support it. This is a great way to engage with your customers and employees while making a difference.

We have assisted our client Mountain & Sea in establishing a charity partnership scheme that supports a local social enterprise, designed to offer opportunities for local creatives. Mountain and Sea is an innovative response to a need they saw in artists who are isolated socially and from an area of economic disadvantage.

3.  Reduce Carbon Footprint

Implement environmentally-friendly practices in your business operations to reduce your impact on the environment.

At COVE Collective we believe that small changes can make a huge impact, like our reusable coffee cups. By this small change we are reducing the amount of single-use coffee cups that end up in landfill and reducing our carbon footprint.

4.  Invest In Your Community

Invest in your local community, where your business can offer events and workshops that will benefit local people and their businesses.

At KIN we are passionate about facilitating marketing workshops that help local entrepreneurs grow their business. This creates employment opportunities and space for local people to connect with each other and exchange ideas. Through hosting workshops, you may also attract potential clients and increase your visibility in the community.

5.  Support The Next Generation

Partner with local schools to provide educational opportunities for students, which will in turn promote your organisation to students, families and educators.

Recently Jenna and Ryan facilitated a ‘Set up your own business’ workshop in our local Kilkeel High School, where students had the opportunity to design branding, create a website and learn about business finance. We are passionate that change and positive impact should begin with the next generation.
